Bishop Gerald McGaha

Obituary of Bishop Gerald D. McGaha

Gerald D. McGaha of Bedford, passed away and went home to be with his Savior, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 21, 1938 in Pioneer, LA to the late Homer and Louise Copes McGaha. Pastor McGaha graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a business degree but his passion was in Ministry. He was a Pastor for 40 years. Some men are so original until there will never be a replica. This is a picture of Gerald McGaha. His quick wit, sense of humor and knowledge of the scriptures will never be forgotten. He was a great husband, father, and shepherd. Only eternity will reveal the impact of this one life. He always perceived people not as problems, but as possibilities. As Jonathon said to David, “Your place will be empty.” In death, to be absent from the body is to be present with Jesus. The final sacred moment of Grace. Dad, we salute you, who has made an incredible difference in the lives of so many. He is survived by his wife, Barbara McGaha of Bedford; his sons, Bruce McGaha and his wife, Teresa of Southlake, Scott McGaha and his wife, Denise of Grapevine; his grandson, Jaxon McGaha; his granddaughter, Jori McGaha, both from Grapevine; three brothers, Harold McGaha of Clinton, Arkansas, Larry McGaha of Pioneer, LA, Robert McGaha of Bernice, LA; by his sister, Mary Barton of Bastrop, LA.; and many nieces, nephews and a great host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Homer and Louise McGaha; his sisters, Dorthy Self and Darlene Allen; and also by his brother, Charles McGaha.
