Wanda Schmars Chase Obituary

Wanda Lea Schmars Chase, of Bedford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 78.

She was born on February 20, 1946 in East St. Louis to Andrew Hammers and Mae McInvale. Wanda attended L.D. Bell High School and then went on to study at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. From there, she began her career in Civil Service, working for social security for many years. She attended Shady Oaks Baptist Church and was a part of the Loveland Archaeological Society. 

In her free time, she loved sewing, quilting and reading. Wanda's loving smile and caring spirit will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege to know and love her. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Hammers and Mae McInvale; husband, Darrell H. Schmars; and two grandchildren. 

Wanda is survived by her loving spouse of 36 years, Jim Chase; daughters, Delynne Mollo (Jerry), Amber De La O (Mark), Eve Stapp (Sandy), Stacy Miller (Kermit), Crystal Garcia (Ryan); sons, Milan Chase and Jimmy Chase; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her precious dachshund, Pixie (aka Bushy), she also loved Gretchen, Libby and Cricket; and numerous other extended family members and dear friends. 

A celebration of life will be held on May 3, 2024 at 10:00am at Shady Oaks Baptist Church 1336 Cavender Dr. Hurst, Texas 76053.
